Man has been progressively developing ever since the earliest times. There are three developmental dispositions in him : jigyasa (desire to know, inquire, investigate), Bubhusha (desire to be or become anything), and chikirsha (desire to make or do or perform).
Man has jigyasa. At times he wants to discover new facts.

This article consists of the Pratikraman ritual which includes many texts (Sutras). The original texts are written in Ardha maghdhi and Sanskrit languages which consist of many hymns in praise of Lords and many verses of repentance and confession. rn"Prati" means "back" and "kraman" means "to go", i.e. to go back, review, confess, and repent the bad thoughts and deeds from our daily activities. |

| Every year, at least once a year, we do an annual rite, called Samvatsari Pratikraman, in which we hear the summary of Jainism. The Pratikraman is done on the last day of Paryushan, the days of Jain festival. Usually these days come in August or September, depending upon the lunar calendar for the year. |
